The repeat of ‘Villages by the Sea’ on tv caused Ian Crawford (FS 51-55) to write:
“You may be interested to learn that my sport at school was golf, and that I remember that on one occasion the Headmaster Mr Wykes (not a golf admirer) stood next to me on the high ninth tee when I was the Captain of Golf and asked why my long light blue stocking were round my ankles. To this I replied that it was the Captain’s decision on all hot days. He ordered me to pull them up. I was not impressed!
From that tee you could easily see the Isle of Man, and for the first time in my long life we are going on a four-night holiday to the island and I will be able to see St Bees Head easily. So I shall think of my very happy rounds of golf that I can so easily remember on the golf course.”
